Blood and Chocolate

Annette Curtis Klause

Now, truth be told, I'm a vamptramp through and through. Never really was a fan of weres or shifters. That is until I read this book (along with New Moon from the Twilight Saga). This is a great beginners guide to werewolves, no matter the mythology.

The book picks up some time after the death of Vivian's father, who was also the alpha of her pack. See, Vivian is a werewolf. After the pack loses it's alpha, it begins to shamble apart. With no absolute leader, they are lost and doing whatever they please.

Meanwhile, Vivian just wants to fit in at school and find somebody to love her, no matter what she is. She thinks she may have found that person. As she asks herself if he can truly accept who she is, the reader asks if she can ever truly accept and understand what she really is.

Great intro to the world of weres, still YA with concepts of acceptance and loss but I loved it.
