Guilty Pleasures

Laurell K. Hamilton

I was always hesitant to start the Anita Blake series because as my mind saw it, why would I want to read a book centred on someone who wants to kill vampires, when I love them so? But after having amazon offer it to me everytime i logged on, I finally caved and bought it. Glad I did!

Yes, Anita is a vampire executioner and full time zombie raiser, but it seems like that is all taken care off in a past before book1 of the series. In Guilty Pleasures we see Anita (who also works with the police as a consultant on preternatural cases) agree to help out some vamps find out who is committing vampire murders around town. We also learn that "sexy" vampire Jean Claude (sexy is in quotes because author Laurell K Hamilton seems stuck in the 80s and has a thing for men with long hair. Jean Claude is one of them) has the hots for Anita and will do anything to make her his.

It's a fun little mystery book, and a great introduction to a LONG series. This book is followed by The Laughing Corpse
